Clam Seeding Project

Volunteers regularly seed the area of Balayan Bay with giant clams cultured from the UP Marine Science Institute. As the most successful site nationwide with a survival rate of >80%, Dive & Trek is the the base for all these activities in the Anilao area.

Briefing. The day started with a briefing for the volunteers on how to handle the clams.

Responsibilities and work assignments were given for each group of volunteers.

Of course, everyone hoped that they would be the ones to bring down the clams.

Seeding. Volunteers were tasked to measure each seedling after which they are placed in pre-selected areas in the reef.

Time off. This is the best part so far in any volunteer activity. The time before, in-between, and after work. A time of play and fun with your old as well as new found friends.
